IOPN Master Practitioner Diploma

The Master Practitioner Diploma provides graduates of the IOPN Diploma in Sports Nutrition with the opportuntiy continue their learning journey with the IOPN and achieve a final exit award of 180 credits (120 credit transferred over from the IOPN Diploma in Sports Nutrition). As such, graduates of the IOPN Diploma in Sports Nutrition will already have completed 4 modules, before enrolling on the Master Practitioner Diploma, which offers 2 additional modules as explained below.

IOPN Diploma in Sports Nutrition:

  • Module 1: Human Nutrition and Exercise Metabolism

  • Module 2: Digestion and Intestinal Absorption & Macronutrients

  • Module 3: Micronutrients & Supplementation

  • Module 4: Advanced Sports Nutrition

IOPN Master Practitioner Diploma:

Module 5: Research Methods in Sports Nutrition

This module aims to have students formulate research questions using the PICO framework, acquire relevant scientific evidence and grey literature, and critically appraise these various forms of evidence in the context of their validity and practical relevance. Moreover, students will develop skills in data collection, statistical analysis, and scientific writing. By the end of this module, students will have produced a short-form research review using contemporary critical appraisal frameworks, a long-form literature review and research proposal for their Module 6 case study project.

Module 6: Case Study Final Project

The aim of this module is for the student to conduct an in-depth, longitudinal analysis and intervention plan of a real-world case subject that aims to support their health and performance. Students should demonstrate a comprehensive theoretical and practical understanding of sports nutrition that corresponds to some of the core learning outcomes covered in the previous five modules. Students should demonstrate an understanding of evidence-based practice by planning, implementing, and reflecting on their intervention plan.
